In a musical landscape increasingly dominated by fleeting trends, singer and streamer Paullinho stands out by taking the opposite path: one of authenticity. Born in Guarulhos (SP), Paulo Henrique Moreira Balbino, now 34 years old, found in music not just a vocation, but a life purpose. His story proves that talent, dedication, and sensitivity can turn obstacles into steppingstones toward success.
His passion for music was born early, nurtured by family gatherings where the romanticism of Roberto Carlos, 90s sertanejo, the pagode of “Só Pra Contrariar,” and brega music filled the air. At 14, Paullinho traded toys for a guitar and began captivating his relatives with emotionally charged performances.
At a family party around 2010, he received his first professional opportunity: a friend of his aunt invited him to perform at a bar. That experience marked the beginning of a journey that never stopped. Driven by courage and persistence, Paullinho formed his own band, personally funding rehearsals and musician fees, fueled by the dream of becoming an artist.
His official debut came as part of a sertanejo duo with his neighbor Fabrício, under the name “Paulo Henrique e Fabrício.” However, the partnership was short-lived due to differences in age and personal goals. Paulo then adopted the stage name “Paulinho Balbino,” but confusion during radio interviews—where audiences thought it was a duo (“Paulinho and Balbino”)—led him to rebrand himself as “Paullinho,” with a double L, creating a unique and memorable identity.
His professional breakthrough came when well-known regional artists began recording his compositions. Recognizing the value of his work and already earning significant income, Paullinho chose to leave his law studies—he was close to graduating—to dedicating himself fully to music.
His repertoire now blends original songs—such as “Menti,” “5 Minutos de Beijo,” and “E Agora?”—with reinterpretations of classics that have marked generations.
Between 2018 and 2019, he experienced the peak of his artistic career, with songs playing on the radio and a packed schedule of performances. But the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020 interrupted that momentum. Still, Paullinho remained active, using his visibility to collect food donations and support communities in Alagoas.
After the lockdown, he returned to the stage in 2022, highlighted by a São João concert. Despite strong earnings, he faced challenges with the organizers and only received his payment a year later. That experience led him to rethink his approach and seek safer, more sustainable alternatives.
In July 2023, Paullinho found a new artistic home: TikTok. With over 30,000 followers on the platform and another 77,000 on Instagram, he discovered a loyal and passionate audience. More than just numbers, he found recognition—even internationally, with fans from France, Portugal, and Latin America enchanted by his romantic style and charisma. His musical style, influenced by icons like Fábio Jr., José Augusto, Alexandre Pires (from “Só Pra Contrariar”), Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, João Paulo & Daniel, and Roberto Carlos post-Jovem Guarda, revives the essence of Brazilian music with emotion and elegance. His dedication is evident: he takes vocal technique lessons and has worked daily with a speech therapist for the past 10 years to care for the voice that moves thousands.
The platform helped him refine his artistic vision, his positioning, and deepen his connection with his audience. He also became a mentor to other artists seeking to promote their work through TikTok. Paullinho believes that performing on the platform is not about being the best singer or having perfect vocal technique, but about emotionally touching people, being genuine in interactions, and making their day a little brighter. It’s about empathy—using music as a bridge to connect with others. Paullinho has ambitious plans for the coming months.
He intends to release new songs directly on TikTok, using the platform as a gauge for audience response. The tracks that receive the most engagement will be professionally recorded in the studio, strengthening his bond with fans and honoring what truly resonates in their hearts.
