From Campos, in Rio de Janeiro, to national and international stages, Marina Andrade built her story with the violin as one delicately weaves a unique melody. She carries not only the technique of someone who started early—at 8 years old she was already in love with the instrument—but also the courage to transform her passion into a profession.
Daughter of parents who encouraged her first lessons and inspired by her brother at the piano, Marina found in the violin a path of expression. Even without contacts in the musical world, she pursued her journey with effort and talent. At 17, she entered UFRJ to study Literature, but it was on university stages that music called her back. Her experience in the United States, through the Fulbright program at Yale University, broadened her horizons: there, Marina not only completed a postgraduate degree but also shone in the campus popular orchestra, presenting her own composition at her audition.
The turning point was marked by courage. In 2017, a video posted online opened doors to invitations that changed her life: Rock in Rio, The Voice Brasil, recordings, and participation in major projects. In 2023, Marina experienced an emotional milestone by participating in the recording of Chitãozinho and Xororó’s 50-year career DVD, with Milton Nascimento. Music, which once shared space with academia, became her definitive choice.
For Marina, the violin became more than an instrument: it became a constant challenge and an inexhaustible source of nuances. Every detail matters—from posture to the control of the right hand, which defines the physics of sound. She compares learning to an athlete’s training: it requires persistence, acceptance of mistakes, and courage to expose oneself. The result is a unique sound that carries the identity of the performer.
Before stepping on stage, Marina focuses on a mantra: being at the service of art. For her, music is greater than shyness or fear of criticism. This dedication transforms each performance into a moment of deep connection with the audience. Whether in samba, bossa nova, MPB, or choro, Marina conveys emotion and improvisation, creating unique experiences.
If at first social media was not a priority, today Marina sees it as a bridge to reach more people. With TikTok lives since late last year, she has attracted a diverse and international audience. Her goal is to expand this presence, bringing the violin to new spaces and opportunities.
Marina has multiple musical facets that allow personalized performances. She plays at events such as weddings, graduations, and corporate gatherings, adapting repertoire, costumes, and musical arrangements to each client’s wishes. Each show is unique, designed as a tailor-made experience. This personalization is her trademark and explains the value she adds to her work.
More than playing, Marina seeks to learn. For her, music is made of encounters, challenges, and mutual inspiration. Being at the service of art means allowing oneself to be immersed in feelings and the energy of other artists, in a continuous process of evolution.
Marina Andrade shows us that the violin, delicate and demanding, can also be a powerful instrument of emotion and transformation. Her journey inspires musicians and all who believe in the strength of art to evoke emotions with sonic charm capable of eternalizing moments.
