The Voice That Waited for Time

Some voices are born ready while others are discovered in the silence of waiting

At 38, Lumma Hèyn is more than a successful TikTok streamer — she’s a performance artist who found her true voice through a long journey of learning, spirituality, and reinvention. With over 52,000 followers and livestreams that captivate fans around the world with pop/rock classics and romantic ballads, Lumma has become a symbol of authenticity and talent.

Born in Campo Grande, Brazil, Lumma grew up surrounded by music. Her childhood was filled with pop/rock and nostalgic hits from the ’70s and ’80s. Her mother once sang on the radio as a child, and karaoke nights at home were a family tradition.

But it was in Uruguay, when she was 20 years old, where she spent 7 months as a missionary with the spiritual organization Sukyo Mahikari, that Lumma learned to play guitar and composed her first original song. That was the moment the seed of artistry was planted. Upon returning to Brazil, she committed herself seriously to music.

Back in Campo Grande, she studied at a music conservatory, took vocal lessons, and in 2008 enrolled in a university program for classical singing. She even performed in a production of The Malandro Opera. Lumma also trained in belting — a vocal technique used to project powerful high notes while maintaining chest voice, commonly used in musical theater and genres that demand vocal strength.

To support herself, she began teaching singing and also joined the all-female a cappella group Maria Bonita, performing both classical and Brazilian repertoire.

Her thirst for knowledge led her to Goiânia, where she earned a master’s degree in Music, Culture, and Society. During this time, she fell in love with Brazilian music — Tom Jobim, Vinícius de Moraes, and many others became part of her sonic soul.

What followed was a whirlwind of cities and projects: teaching in schools, artistic experiences in Rio de Janeiro, collaborations with emerging musicians, and eventually, passing a competitive exam to teach at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul.

Yet something inside her kept pulsing — a creative restlessness, a longing to be under the spotlight, not just behind the scenes. During the pandemic, Lumma created online singing courses, but it was in 2022 that everything began to shift.

Noticing TikTok’s rise, she decided to try livestreaming her performances. While she explored Brazilian music, her heart always beat strongest for international pop/rock. Even before gaining traction on the platform, Lumma ventured into the Metaverse, creating an avatar and hosting a virtual concert with her own repertoire. Gradually, she transitioned to TikTok, refining her image and crafting an intimate atmosphere that won over audiences.

By the end of 2023, she was earning a significant income from the platform and had built a devoted fanbase. In 2024, she made a bold decision: she took a leave from teaching to fully embrace her artistic career.

Today, her livestreams reach not only Brazilian fans but also international viewers who are moved by her renditions of global classics. Lumma Hèyn is living proof that talent, when paired with the courage to reinvent oneself, can transform destinies.

Though she shines as a performer, Lumma continues to compose — quietly, with the promise that when the time feels right, she’ll share her sensitivity as a songwriter with the world. Because in the end, Lumma wasn’t born just to teach others how to sing. She was born to move hearts with her own voice.

And Lumma isn’t just a voice. She’s time, she’s waiting, she’s discovery. She’s proof that art doesn’t rush — it simply waits for someone who’s ready to listen.
